Salvation Mountain

Salvation Mountain is the work of Leonard Knight and is featured in the movie "Into the Wild." It was a long dusty ride into the California desert east of the Salton Sea to get to Salvation Mountain and Slab City. Slab City is a land that is classified as abandoned military. All the structures were razed, only leaving the slabs - hence the name. Every winter, snow birds, artists, musicians and outlaws converge there and create a temporary city.
